Happy Love Day

I'm finally getting around to posting about our valentine's day! We had a lot of fun with valentine's day this year. It's so great having kids and making holidays special for them. The best part about our Valentine's Day this year was that it marked Grant's first day home after his crazy busy season! We're so happy to have made it through another year and that it's now behind us (for now). I can't tell you how awesome it is having him back home!!

A few days before valentine's day Emily had preschool where she got this cute valentine from some of her friends:

And the day before Valentine's Day, we decorated heart sugar cookies with Nana and Aunt Fleming. Emily was a big help with the whole process!

we made special cookies for dad!

Emily woke up valentine's morning to a door full of hearts! We've decided to start a new tradition of heart attacking the kids' doors the night before with things we love about them. Emily loved it! She wanted us to read all of the hearts to her and kept going back to them throughout the day to hear them again :) I'm so excited about this new tradition!

The girls were spoiled this year with lots of fun treats! They got some goodies in their buckets from mom and dad, plus some gifts from Grandma Barb, Grandma Thurman, and Aunt Kay. The next day, Emily got a valentine from Nana and Papa as well, but I forgot to take a picture of that one :(

we're trying out some beginner jigsaw puzzles with Emily. She really likes them!

We went heart-shaped with a lot of our food for the day! We had heart shaped pancakes with heart shaped strawberries for breakfast. Then we spent the day enjoying the beautiful weather and having daddy home! In the evening, Emily helped me make dinner for daddy. We had steak, heart-shaped potatoes, salad, rolls, and chocolate covered strawberries. We enjoyed a family dinner by candlelight. It was a great day!
