my crafty side

I've been working a lot lately on several projects.  I'll get started on a project and then find another one I want to do which makes the first project go on the back burner. And then I'll go back and forth between projects and it takes forever to get something done!  I've finally finished a few projects within the past couple of weeks and wanted to share my work!
The first thing I made was a menu board. I've been wanting to make one for a long time and finally got around to it.  I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Another project I just finished was a quiet book for Emily, inspired by pinterest.  It was my first big sewing project.  It took me FOREVER, and it's nowhere near perfect, but I'm very proud of it.  I'm giving it to Emily for her birthday in a few weeks.

I still have several projects in the works, but right now I'm kicking it in high gear getting everything ready for Emily's birthday!  We're so excited!

11 months

Emily turned 11 months yesterday. Only 1 more month until she's a year old! What?!

Emily is just getting more and more active and energetic!  I'm exhausted at the end of every day.  She's really wearing me out! She's starting to lose her third nap so she's up more during the day.  I love having the time to play with her and interact, but it also means I have less time during the day to get things done without worrying about her getting into everything!
She still really loves climbing the stairs.  I spend a lot of time each day getting her off of the stairs.  When I do let her climb them she gets so excited! She climb a couple of steps and then look back to make sure I'm not going to stop her. Then when I don't she laughs and keeps going. Once she gets up the stairs she goes straight into the bathroom to play with her bath toys.  Then she explores the rest of the upstairs.  She LOVES having the freedom to go anywhere and do anything she wants.

unfortunately for Emily, there is a gate at nana and papa's house

She's learned how to open cabinet doors.  I don't let her get into most of the cabinets, but we do have a cabinet with kiddie bowls, bottles, utensils, etc. that I sometimes let her play in. She really likes it and she'll take everything out so she can play with all of it.

We joke around sometimes that Emily has some sort of OCD.  Whenever we stack the rings on her ring stacker she HAS to unstack them.  She can't stand to have them stacked.  I can sometimes get her to come away from the stairs by showing her the stacked rings. And then when she takes them off she almost seems frantic about it like she has to get them off as quickly as possible. She'll do the same thing with taking things out of a basket or bag, etc. And she loves to take all of the books off of the book shelves.  It's like she prefers disorder. It makes a lot of fun cleanup opportunities for mom!

Emily's getting more and more sure on her feet.  She's a lot faster and confident walking around furniture and she's really good at using the walker toys. She's still not ready to let go and try on her own, but there have been a few occasions where she's let go of something and stood for a few seconds. I don't think it will be long before we have a walker!

We got Emily a little blankie to sleep with now and she LOVES it!  It's silky and soft and a comfort to her.  Whenever I put her down for bed and cover her up, she'll immediately grab on to the blanket and start stroking it.  It's sweet.

She loves dancing and singing.  Whenever there's music on she'll either nod her head, bounce her whole body, or lift her bum up in the air and swing it back and forth.  Sometimes she'll sing along to music, too.  She takes after her mommy and daddy!
She's recently started sharing things with other people.  She'll take a toy, her pacifier, or food and stick it in someone else's mouth or try to hand it to them.
And now we're in party planning mode, getting ready for her first birthday party! I'm so not ready for her to turn 1! This little sweetheart is growing up way too fast!
