Superhero Party

I know I've mentioned this before, but Emily is obsessed with superheroes! I love it! It started back at the beginning of the year when she first watched The Incredibles and then we were watching either that or Big Hero 6 every day for weeks! I kind of encouraged her passion to continue because I knew a girly superhero party would be adorable! And it was ;)

Now, I have to brag on our photographer really quick before I show all the awesome pictures. Kaity Fisher (who takes all our family photos) offered to take pictures of the party a couple months beforehand. Her due date was a week before so I didn't expect that it would actually work out. She still hadn't had her baby when the party came so she came and took pictures for us when she was 41 weeks pregnant! She had her beautiful baby girl 2 days later ;) We're so grateful to her for these awesome shots! Mine would not have turned out nearly as cute!

We invited all of Emily's preschool friends to the party (and they all happen to be girls this year, so we were able to make it extra girly). As the girls came in, they each got a cape (made by my mom) and a chance to go in the telephone booth. Then they all made their own masks while they waited for everyone to arrive.

Then we headed outside for an obstacle course (or "superhero training"). Emily put Grant in charge of the obstacle course and he definitely delivered! At the end, they did a punch board, where they drew a number corresponding with a bag. Each bag had a little superhero doll in it for the girls to keep :)

Then we headed back inside for dessert and presents!

Emily loved her party and we're so happy with how everything turned out! She now has all of her next birthdays planned until she's 11 ;) We'll see if she sticks with them! Thanks to everyone who came and made this day special for her!

back in the swing of things

Up until this point in our lives as parents, the school year hasn't really felt any different than the rest of the year. This year, there was a definite difference between summer and the start of the school year. We now have things in our plans almost every morning from preschool to dance classes to music classes, etc. We're so busy! But we're having a lot of fun too! We love getting out and doing fun things with our friends :)

The first to start up was ballet. Emily is loving it! They get to wear a different princess tutu each week and it just kills me seeing them dance around in them! So cute!

Then we started preschool. It's keeping me busy, since I'm the teacher, but it's going really well so far! We have all girls this year and they get along so well. We're really having a good time!

I didn't get any good pictures of Em by herself :(

Our ward had a fun party where we raced goldfish in rain gutters. Our fish unfortunately didn't make it past the first heat, but Emily really enjoyed watching the races. Addie was content to just sit and eat watermelon the whole time.

Some other random pictures from the last month or so:

my uncle, aunt, and cousins came to visit and they got Emily a cinderella dress and big coloring book for an early birthday gift :)

breakfast in bed for uncle danny's birthday

this is how Emily eats strawberries

Sunday night chats with Grandma Barb

I find my shoes all over the house all the time!

My favorite time of the year is coming up!! I only wish it felt more like fall :( I'm dying to break out the sweaters and boots! But we're so excited about all of the holidays coming up and the fun that they bring!
