March updates

The month of march (and the beginning of april) was very eventful for us! I've already posted a lot about the beginning of the month with Addie's blessing and updates on both of the girls, but so much has happened and I'm behind on blogging so I'm just going to do a big catch up post :)

-The month of March is one of our favorites because it means daddy is working closer and has a lot better hours. He was home not only in time to eat dinner with us, but he was actually able to be there to take care of the girls while I cooked dinner. Talk about a dream! It's also fun because he worked close enough that we were able to meet up with him for lunch a few times. Emily loved that!

(I don't know why this photo keeps uploading upside down!)

Grant got off early one day and surprised us at my parents' house!

and then Emily helped him get some work done :)

-I love St. Patrick's Day because my favorite color is green so it's fun getting into it! I had plans to do a fun themed breakfast, but I totally spaced that day :( It was spring break here, so I taught piano in the morning and some of Emily's friends were nice enough to invite her over to decorate cookies while I taught. Then we heard from Fleming who had also made some cookies for us to decorate. Emily made a huge mess, but had so much fun with it! We also made some lucky charm rice krispie treats. Emily's favorite part was helping me pick out the marshmallows (and she snuck a bunch when she thought I wasn't looking!)

-we attempted to take some pictures in the bluebonnets this year, which ended up being a little bit of a disaster! It's not so easy with a toddler and an infant (not to mention I went with my mom, sister, and my sister's twins, so we had 1 toddler, 3 babies, and 3 adults!), but we ended up with some halfway decent shots to document the occasion.

-we got to go clean the church building, which of course means Emily got a donut!

-Because we had General Conference on the actual Easter Sunday, we got to dress up the week before for Easter

I love that they're both making the same face here :)

some friends invited us over for yummy crepes :)

-Emily's still fighting those naps! She falls asleep in the car a lot. One day she fell asleep in the car twice on the same day! Poor girl! We sometimes do "quiet time" instead of naps, where she brings books into her crib. If I'm lucky, she'll fall asleep during quiet time :)

-For Family Home Evening the monday before Easter, we learned about the story of Christ's atonement and resurrection using our "resurrection eggs." Emily really picked up on it better than I thought she would and kept getting them out during the week to teach addie about easter. It was so sweet to watch! She would pull out the egg with the coins signifying Judas betraying Jesus and she would say "not nice." And when she got out the egg with the whip, she said, "they hurt Jesus." There were several eggs that she really seemed to understand. For our activity that night, we decorated Easter eggs. It was Emily's first time doing it and she really liked it!

-On Saturday, we watched the first session of conference at home. Then we had some families over to my parents' house that just have nursery aged kids between conference sessions. We had a picnic lunch, an easter egg hunt, and easter cookie decorating. Emily loved having friends over and oh.my.goodness did she get into that egg hunt! She would not stop moving until every egg was found and she got just as excited about every single egg. She was giddy! It was so fun to watch!

pure joy!

"heavy!"

-Easter morning, Emily was so excited to see everything that was in her basket! We then had bunny cinnamon rolls for breakfast and headed over to nana and papa's house for conference and easter lunch. Emily got an apron that matches mine in her easter basket and helped me cook (Grant had gotten me this apron a few christmases ago and I randomly came across a mini version last year. The plan was to get it for her for Christmas, but it was on back order until march, so it became an easter gift instead!)

It's hard to see in the picture, but when we got to my parents' house, there were a bunch of deer hanging out in the backyard

-some more miscellaneous pictures:

she's recently discovered the joy of jumping in puddles and she LOVES her rain boots!

Horrible selfie, but Grant and I went to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat! It's the longest I've left Addie and she was a champ!

Sunday afternoon nap :)

I traded out my winter pansies for summer flowers. I usually go with vincas for the summer, but this year I couldn't resist the ZINNias ;)

love my girls!!
