7 months

This girl turned 7 months old yesterday!

-She's still not sleeping through the night :( Last month she was finally starting to do better, but unfortunately she has digressed this month.  The middle two weeks of the month she was waking up 3 times a night again! But the last few days have been a little better, with just 1 or 2 wakings, so hopefully things will be improving again. Fingers crossed ;)

"I'm up again mommy!"

-This girl now has 2 teeth and they are as cute as can be :)

-Both my girls are little fish in the water! Emily asks almost everyday if we're going to go swimming and Addie has a smile on her face the whole time we're in the water. It's so fun!

-Addie's definitely a momma's girl, but she's still not afraid of strangers. She'll socialize with other people and will let anyone hold her, but she'll sometimes get frustrated if she notices me there too and I'm not the one holding her. Other times she really doesn't care though ;) She's always excited to see her mommy, though, and I love that!

-Emily's still her best friend! Nobody can make her laugh like Emily can. Whenever she wakes up from a nap, Emily has to be the first one to go greet her. It's their special bonding time. I like to watch them on the monitor when Emily goes in. Addie's always excited to see her and Emily will usually bring her toys or dance around and sing songs to entertain Addie. It's so sweet. Unfortunately, Emily has brought out a little bit more of a violent streak this month :( She's been biting, pushing, stealing toys, and sitting on top of Addie. It's driving me crazy! And Addie gets the saddest cry whenever Emily hurts her. It's like part of her cry is because she's hurt and part is because she's offended that her best friend would do that to her. It breaks my heart! Emily's starting to understand her consequences, though, so it's gotten a little bit better.

Addie's learning to hold her own. When Emily or her cousins try to take her toys she grabs them right back and holds on for dear life ;)

poor girl :( she had these teeth marks on her for days!

-Addie is a champ at sitting now! She's been able to sit for a while, but now she's at the point where I can sit her down and not have to be right next to her the whole time. It's that perfect age where she can sit and play with toys, but you don't have to worry about her going anywhere. She loves digging stuff out of the toy box and investigating all the toys. It will keep her busy for a long time, which is so nice for me! She can also usually get from a seated position to her tummy without falling. She's starting to realize that she can't get to everything like she wants to and will often lift up on her hands and toes. She hasn't discovered the knees yet, but I don't think it will be too long ;)

-Addie's still not super interested in baby food, which is surprising to me. She'll usually just take a few bites and decide she's done. Occasionally she'll really like the fruit and eat about half a container, but she's never done that with veggies. I'm worried she's going to be even pickier than Emily, which is not easy to do. Emily ate any food at this age! Addie doesn't ever spit any food out so I guess that's a good sign. She'll usually just purse her lips and turn her head away. She LOVES water, though! She gets giddy whenever I give her a sippy cup or let her drink out of my glass!

family reunions and the 4th of July!

We've had a lot of extended family bonding time lately and it's been so much fun! Last weekend we trekked up to Oklahoma for a Trindle family reunion (my mom's side of the family). The girls were able to bond with their great grandparents, great aunts and uncles, and 2nd cousins. It was a really quick trip and a good amount of time in the car, but I'm really glad we were able to go!

ready to road trip!

Addie LOVED her Papa Joe!!

Papa Joe put them to work watering his tree ;)

How does this even happen?! Skip-bo is a family reunion tradition and Fleming got a lucky hand ;)

4 generations! Papa Joe and his girls :)

When we came home, we had a few normal days, and then my cousin Jenni came down from Portland with her family. She has two girls a little older than Emily and a baby boy a little older than Addie and Fleming's boys, so we had a lot of fun! My cousin Keri and her family also came down for the weekend and we all spent the 4th of July together. It was so much fun! Every day Emily would wake up and say, "are my cousins still at Nana's house today?" Jenni's family left today to spend some time with her husbands family, but we're lucky because they'll be coming back for a few days at the end of the week. Keri's family has to leave tomorrow :( Emily's going to be so sad when all her cousins leave!

what's a holiday without some sugar cookie decorating?

Friday night we went night swimming and Emily thought it was the coolest thing ever! The plan was to have the guys shoot off fireworks while we were in the pool, but Emily got scared, so they waited until we left :( The next night the rest of the family saw The Woodlands firework show from my dad's office, but we didn't end up going this year. Our neighbors go crazy with fireworks, though, so Grant and I got to watch some from our backyard. (and I even got to hear some more going off when I was up with Addie at 2 am!)

Nana has the perfect backdrop for 4th of July pics ;)
